Ubuntu MissionOne of the tenets (principles) of any profession is to have a service motive. Many organisations now have corporate social investment projects, and there is a strong move internationally towards responsible business. Responsible business includes ensuring that the greater community benefits, and we believe UPSA-SA is positioned to provide certain skills that can assist South Africa with our massive skills gap.
Although the original idea was conceptualised over 4 years ago, the Ubuntu Mission was launched officially in October 2008.

The concept is relatively simple:
- Find local communities who desperately need help.
- Focus on helping local community leaders bridge the skills gap in their areas.
- Provide a programme of teaching, coaching and mentoring to enable leaders to teach, coach and mentor others.
- Teach foundation and life skills, business planning, sales and marketing in a 3-day or 5-day format.
- Provide ongoing coaching sessions and support.
- Build communities of Ubuntu Mission delegates passionate to teach others.
The Mission is going from strength to strength and we launch our Gauteng activities, and revisit Pietermaritzburg for another green programme and red coaching session - in January 2010.
What started as a lunchtime conversation over four years ago, has now growth into a fully fledged project with a massive potential to positively impact ordinary South Africans.
Already many delegates have been inspired to start small businesses comfortable in the knowledge that they have a support team in the background. A number of delegates in the first programme have gone on to find employment, been promoted or found more rewarding jobs.
